Finding Peace in the Noise

Darcy Staberg

The world feels noisy these days. Between headlines filled with tragedy, social media shouting for attention, and the constant pace of daily life, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Sometimes it feels like everyone is talking louder and faster, and true peace is harder and harder to find.

But here’s what I’ve learned: peace isn’t found in the noise, it’s found in the pauses we create for ourselves.

For me, peace starts in the quiet of my home in the morning with a cup of coffee in hand, I take a few moments to pause and set the tone for the day. I reflect on how I want to move through the hours ahead, most days that looks like prayer, sometimes it’s quiet thought, but always it’s about choosing my mindset before the world rushes in.

After that pause, I move into studying the market. I look at new listings, price changes, pendings, sales, and homes that come back on the market. It’s my way of cutting through the chatter and staying grounded in the facts. That simple routine keeps me steady, both personally and professionally.

I also find peace in movement. Running, even when it’s hard, clears my head.  A quiet drive usually on my way back home, taking in our incredible High Sierra views. These small acts bring perspective and calm in a world that feels heavy.

And most importantly, I find peace in gratitude. For my family. For my husband. For my sweet granddaughter. For watching my kids grow into capable adults. For the community I get to serve. Gratitude shifts the focus from the noise outside to the blessings right in front of me.

In real estate, clients often feel the noise too, market rumors, interest rate chatter, endless opinions. My role is to help bring calm to the process. To focus on the facts. To walk step by step, without pressure, without hype. Because peace matters there too.

We can’t always silence the noise of the world. But we can choose how we respond to it. And for me, that choice will always be to seek peace....in my life, in my work, and in the way I serve others.

Because at the end of the day, peace isn’t found in the noise. It’s found in how we choose to live despite it.
