If you know me, you know this: I’m not big on sharing my personal life online. I’m a private person by nature. An introvert. I’ve built my business quietly, intentionally, and successfully, not by being the loudest voice in the room, but by doing the work and doing it well.
So let me just say it plainly: I have a love-hate relationship with social media.
Actually, if I’m being honest, it was mostly hate for a long time. So much so, that I deleted it all. Completely. I stepped away from the platforms, the noise, the scroll, the comparison. I didn’t want any part of it.
It felt like a dog-and-pony show, and it still does in many ways.
What bothered me most wasn’t just the superficial nature of it all and untruths, it was the pressure. The feeling that if you weren’t constantly posting, performing, or “being seen,” you weren’t relevant. Meanwhile, I was closing deals, serving clients, growing a business built on trust and referrals, not hashtags and filters.
In my line of work, I see a lot of smoke and mirrors and I mean ALOT. Agents posting homes they didn’t list. Glamorous highlight reels with no context. Fancy awards or magazine features that are paid for, not earned. And somehow, that’s become the public’s perception of success in real estate.
Recently, I saw something that made me smile: “We Do Not Care Club – Real Estate Edition: Midlife, Unbothered & Still Crushing It.”
That’s me.
I’m not in my 20s, chasing likes. I’m in my career, serving people. I’m not dressing like I’m auditioning for Selling Sunset. I’m showing up with grit, experience, and ethics.
But here’s where the love part comes in, I do see the value in social media (I may have just rolled my eyes). I know most people spend a lot of their day scrolling. It’s where attention lives. And I want to meet people where they are, on my terms though.
That’s why I’m blogging. That’s why I’m being a little more open. That’s why I’m showing up, certainly not for clout, but for connection. I want people to know who I am, how I work, and what I stand for.
So if you’re tired of the noise, welcome. You’re in the right place. I may not be flashy, but I’m consistent. I may not post every day, but I show up every day. And if that’s the kind of real estate broker you’re looking for, I’d love to work with you.
Let’s keep building something that lasts.
